Hello Bass Fishing Fans!

Today's Chesapeake Bay Bass Fishing Report is from a Delaware Bass Federation tournament that I fished on 5/16/15. 36 bass boats showed up for this bass fishing tournament and water temps reached the low 70's in some areas of the Chesapeake Bay. Winds were from the south at 10 -15 mph. Air temps were in the mid 80's.

I drew number 3 in the blast off order today and took full advantage of the opportunity. I have been on some big Chesapeake Bay bass (5 lb - 7 lb ) for the past week or two and all conditions pointed me to the Susquehanna Flats first thing this morning. The move paid off immediately, my partner had a nice fish on before I could even pick my rod up to make my first cast. It was not long before we were culling. The tide was high in the morning and fell most of the day. Waves reached 2 ft - 3 ft with plenty of rolling action.

The total catch count for today was 14 bass and 13 of them were keepers.

Best Bait: Swim Jig

Number Of Boats = 36
1st Place Weight = 26 lbs
Finished = 3rd Place
Total Weight = 23 lbs

My Favorite Moment:

When I set the hook on a nice 2 pounder and my line snapped near the tip of my rod. I saw the line laying loose near the boat and grabbed it thinking I might be able to get my lure back. As I started hand lining it toward the boat, other boats closed in on my HOT spot. Just around the time the closest boat pulled in, a bass jumped up out of the water almost landing on there front deck. To my surprise, it had my bait in it's mouth. The story ended well, I got my bait back and the fish swims for another day.
