Here is my fishing report for the 2015 Delaware Bass Buddy Classic on the Nanticoke river. Going into the tournament I had a great game plan in place that involved making a long run to a hot spot but the morning of the tournament the fog threw us a curve ball, visibility was under 30 yards. This situation was not safe for the long run that my original plan called for.

So we started fishing close to the ramp in Broad Creek with a buzz bait. After about an half hour with no bites I changed over to a square bill crankbait. It took a couple hours for the fog to lift enough for us to run to our hot spot.

By then the tide was already moving out pretty good. We caught a few keepers on the square bill and a lot of short fish. I used a variety of baits through out the day to try getting the bites we needed but could only manage 3 keepers for the day. All of the keepers came on the square bill. My total weight for this Nanticoke River fishing tournament was around 4 lbs.

There are a few things I would have done different in this tournament that would have made a big difference. The first thing was, I didn't realize that the temperature drop would shut the buzz bait bite off. Secondly, I should have picked up a spinnerbait to get the key bites. Finally, we determined that the fish were not on wood and that they were on the edges of the pads as the tide was moving out. I should have focused on fishing the pads earlier.

By the time we figured out the fish were stacked up on the edge of the pads the tide started coming back in and our opportunity to fill out our 7 fish limit had been missed. All of the fish had moved up deeper into the pad fields with the rising tide making them harder to catch.

All though the fishing was not as good as we expected it was still another great day on the water with my dad. I cherish everyday that he is able to be on the water with me. Moments like this are priceless.

18.28 lbs took first place and big fish of the tournament was 5.50 lbs. I finished 23rd out of the 25 boats that qualified for this end of the championship tournament.

I would like to send a shout out to The Crab Place for sponsoring me this season. It's a great time for a crab and seafood feast please check them out to have seafood delivered straight to your door this holiday season.
